    THE UNITED RELIGIONS INITIATIVE

    The United Religions Initiative (URI) is the world’s largest grassroots interfaith network, with members & activities in more than 110 countries. URI was founded in the year 2000 as a non‑profit organization. The Purpose of URI is threefold: to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence, and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.

    URI connects grassroots groups and individuals working across the globe in support of its Purposemeden into a vibrant network. The network is primarily made up of interfaith groups called Cooperation Circles (CCs). There are currently over 1,200 CCs in 113 countries. CCs are self‑governed and do not receive funding from URI.

    URI’s global network consists of eight regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean, Middle East & North Africa, Multiregion, North America, and Southeast Asia & the Pacific), and a small Global Support Office with remote staff in seven countries.     Summary

    of the Position

    The URI Global Youth Liaison is a vital member of the Growth Learning and Impact Team, as part of the URI Global Support Office staff. The coordinator is responsible for motivating, growing & uplifting URI members and prospective members under the age of 35 and increasing the network vitality of URI through ongoing and effective communications, to accomplish URI’s Purpose. She/he will work in alignment with the URI 2030 Strategic Framework and our goals to grow the network and facilitate learning‑in‑action to prevent violence and heal our Earth community.

    This position is designed to supplement the support that young members receive from regional & global staff. The Coordinator may workോഗ with regional staff throughout the network, as part of the Growth, Learning and Impact Team. The URI Global Youth Liaison upholds and models the Preamble, Purpose and Principles stated in the URI Charter (see ).

    Key Areas of Responsibility Network Growth and Vitality (Communication) – 50%

    The URI Global Youth Liaison will focus on expanding the youth network, increasing its visibility, and ensuring effective internal/external communication.

    • Actively identify and engage young people (under age 35), members of cooperation circles (CCs), IMs, youth‑led CCs.
    • Actively recruit young people to join URI as Individual Members or as­te part of a CC.
    • Foster a sense of connection to the global network among youth members, emphasizing their central role in URI's Purpose and spirit.
    • Connect youth‑led Cooperation Circles (CCs) and individual members locally, regionally, and cross‑regionally to strengthen the grassroots movement, including through the URI Connect app.
    • Represent URI in public events, panels, and strategic partnerships with non‑profits, universities, and youth‑focused organizations to advance organizational relationships.
    • Provide consistent and innovative communication to the network regarding youth activity, collaborating with the Communication & Development team to ensure stories of success and direct investment in young people are uplifted.
    Programs & Facilitation – 40%

    This area focuses on shared learning, program delivery, and strategic coordination to meet the needs of young members.

    • Coordinate, host, and facilitate regular online gatherings (and occasional in‑person events) to foster connections among young people globally, building a network of rising leaders.
    • Engage youth members with URI’s global learning offerings, in order to “train a rising generation of interfaith leaders to design effective change making initiatives that attract seed funding and achieve measurable results.” (URI Strategic Framework)
    • Encourage the sharing of members’ skills and knowledge with each other and their broader community through online and in‑person training in coordination with URI’s Growth, Learning and Impact Team, and through the URI Connect App.
