Job Summary

Registered Nurse - RN – OR & PACU – Part Time Days iver high‑quality critical care for patients undergoing general or vascular surgery and those in the post‑anesthesia care unit.

• Provide quality patient care to critically ill patients using the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
• Serve as a patient advocate at all times.
• Supervise the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers.
• Develop the plan for nursing care as a result of coordination with the patient, family and staff of other disciplines as necessary.
• Apply critical thinking to promote positive clinical outcomes.
• Ensure patient education.
• Participate in discharge planning.

• Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department.
• Assess the patient on admission within the required time frame and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.
• Develop and update nursing care plans, ensuring coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary team.
• Release, remove, and reapply restraints as appropriate; maintain proper patient positioning and alignment.
• Document patient admission assessment, reassessments, and care plans completely in the electronic medical record.
• Demonstrate correct use of biomedical equipment (defibrillator, suction machine, IV pumps, PCA pump, blood glucose monitoring machine).
• Deliver patient care efficiently, completing team assignments on time and exhibiting initiative and teamwork.
• Obtain consents for procedures and transfusions, ensuring informed decision‑making.
• Receive and accurately transcribe physician’s orders; ensure orders are carried out.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition (cardiac rhythm, respiratory distress, GI bleed, pulmonary emboli/edema, diabetic keto acidosis, drug reactions, blood transfusion reaction, etc.), initiate emergency action, notify physician, and obtain orders.
• Administer medications with verbalized knowledge of action, side effects, correct dosages, and route per ICU policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to recognize and institute arrhythmia protocols for V‑tach, V‑fib, PVCs, asystole, heart block, atrial fibrillation, and atrial flutter.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients.
• Assist physicians with special tests and procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy.
• Participate in economical utilization of supplies and maintain equipment in a clean, safe manner.
• Orient new personnel and evaluate nursing staff performance.
• Coordinate nursing care when patients are scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
• Assist or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments (cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, or sepsis).

• Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program.

• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
• BCLS certification and ACLS required.

• Minimum one year of training and experience in Critical Care.
