Job Description The New Grad Registered Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor and age‑appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.

Reevaluates patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary.

• Provides patient care, reviews and administers medications, treatments, and procedures safely and effectively, meeting scope of practice and standards of nursing practice. Recognizes changes in clinical conditions, takes appropriate action and documents intervention.
• Develops long and short‑term goals consistent with treatment plans and the plan of care, incorporating patient preference. Utilizes pain management resources and assesses and documents the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition and response to care.
• Collaborates with staff, physicians, and members of the healthcare team, coordinating care across disciplines. Supervises, monitors, and delegates patient care activities, provides leadership, and ensures safe, high‑quality care.
• Empathizes with patients and their support systems, shows compassion and cultural sensitivity, and engages in caring behaviors while maintaining professional boundaries.

• Active, current, and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification.
• New graduate nurse.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).**

Pay Rate: Min – $43.20 | Max – $43.20

Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys Behavioral Health (also known as Southern California Hospital at Van Nuys) is a 57‑bed psychiatric hospital that provides acute inpatient and outpatient mental health services on a voluntary basis to adults. As an acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facility, the hospital offers round‑the‑clock nursing care, daily medical management by internists and psychiatrists, as well as daily group therapy led by social service staff and recreation therapy staff.
