- Provide comprehensive patient care and education to patients and families in a therapeutic environment.
- Maintain professional communication with colleagues, physicians and the healthcare team using SBAR.
- Adhere to HIPAA and VPH policies, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Cross‑train to various areas of the hospital as per policy.
- Utilize information technology for efficient documentation of care processes.
- Collaborate with physicians and mentors to evaluate and modify care plans based on patient needs.
- Follow Universal Precautions and VPH infection control standards.
- Administer medications per hospital policy and report any errors promptly.
- Collect and interpret patient data, formulate nursing diagnoses and assess patient conditions.
- Advocate for patient and family values, beliefs and standards.
- Plan and facilitate discharge education and effective discharges from admission.
- Support hospital throughput initiatives for timely patient transfers and discharges.
- Participate in unit or hospital quality improvement initiatives and projects.
- Exhibit professionalism in appearance, conduct and communication.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent nursing experience.
- ADN degree required; BSN preferred.
- Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Los Angeles City Fire Card certification within 30 days of hire.
- Annual Stroke Swank Stroke Education within 30 days of employment.
