Join to apply for the LVN (7-3 Shift) Part Time role at Kennedy Care Center. This position involves overseeing day-to-day nursing assistant functions, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and coordinating patient care and administrative duties in the long-term care facility.

Responsibilities
  • Administrative Functions
    • Direct day-to-day functions of nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with written policies and procedures; review policies, manuals, and job descriptions; make recommendations for revisions.
    • Plan shifts, services, programs, and activities; maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
    • Prepare written and oral reports/recommendations regarding shift activities.
    • Coordinate nursing services with resident services to maintain total regimen of care.
    • Support facility quality assurance program and participate in surveys and inspections.
    • Review and update resident discharge plans as required; admit, transfer, and discharge residents.
    • Complete accident/incident reports and maintain Daily Census Report.
  • Charting and Documentation
    • Complete and file required recordkeeping forms/charts upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
    • Encourage physicians to review treatment plans and sign orders; transcribe physician orders to resident charts.
    • Chart nurses’ notes in an informative manner reflecting care provided and resident response.
    • Submit accident/incident reports and other documentation to the Director and Accounting.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of unauthorized discharges and drug administrative records.
    • Maintain signed and dated entries in resident medical records.
  • Drug Administration Functions
    • Prepare and administer medications as ordered; verify resident identity; ensure one resident’s medication is not given to another.
    • Maintain floor stock of medications and supplies; order as necessary; verify narcotic records.
    • Notify Nurse Supervisor of drug discrepancies; review medication cards for completeness.
    • Dispose of drugs and narcotics per established procedures.
  • Personnel Functions
    • Participate in employee evaluations and staffing decisions; recommend staffing requirements.
    • Provide leadership to nursing personnel; conduct rounds to ensure standards met.
    • Ensure nursing assistants are trained and supervised by a licensed nurse.
    • Improve services through regular meetings and by addressing grievances.
    • Ensure compliance with non-discriminatory policies; maintain workplace safety.
  • Nursing Care Functions
    • Inform staff of new admissions and facilitate room readiness.
    • Conduct patient orientation and schedule rounds with physicians.
    • Perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and routine nursing tasks such as medication administration, wound care, and specimen collection.
    • Monitor resident status; notify physicians of accidents or significant changes.
    • Coordinate with social and activity programs to meet resident needs.
    • Provide specialized care such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, dressing changes, and use of restraints per policy.
    • Assist with transportation for discharged residents and communication of death to family.
  • Safety and Sanitation
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations in equipment usage and personal protective equipment.
    • Support infection control program; enroll personnel in training for exposure to blood/body fluids.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area; ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
    • Participate in fire safety and disaster preparedness drills.
  • Equipment and Supply Functions
    • Maintain adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment.
    • Recommend needs to the Nurse Supervisor; ensure proper operation of nursing equipment.
    • Monitor efficient use of supplies to reduce waste.
  • Care Plan and Assessment Functions
    • Review care plans to ensure appropriate care; inform Supervisor of needed changes.
    • Confirm that nursing notes reflect plan adherence.
    • Coordinate with Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator for MDS and RAP updates.
Qualifications

    • Minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduation from an approved LPN/LVN…
