Travel RN - Mother Baby - Post Partum

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Mother Baby/Postpartum unit requiring a CA RN license and at least 4 years of postpartum nursing experience.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 4 years of postpartum nursing experience required
• Experience caring for patients 20 weeks gestation and above, including high-risk cases (hypertension, multiples, diabetes, no prenatal care, substance abuse)
• No gynecological surgery patients cared for on this unit
• BSN not required

Responsibilities

• Acute care Postpartum unit with 28 beds supporting approximately 3,300 births per year
• Couplet care with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment when needed
• Nurse aides/OB techs available (1-2 depending on census)
• Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link fetal monitoring system
• Uses Nihon Kohden telemetry; no ventilators on unit
• OB attending in house 24 hours a day; RT and pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, every other weekend
• First to float; may float to NICU (feeders and growers) and Peds (low acuity, 12 beds)
• No call requirements
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday
• 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation
• Provide couplet care to mother-baby patients on a busy postpartum unit at one of the 13th largest birthing centers in California
• Perm staff are receptive to travelers and encourage an open mind toward unit workflow
• Travel experience is preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
• Navy scrub color required
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
