The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, always “in search of excellence”, is working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China. • A Ph.D. degree and a solid academic background in one of the following three fields: computational biology, translational chemistry, or molecular biology
• Preferably at least two years of postdoctoral research experience
• A competitive publication record in leading peer‑reviewed scientific journals and demonstrated research achievements
• Strong ability to take responsibility for research projects, demonstrating self‑motivation and initiative in problem‑solving, with clear potential for rapidly developing into an independent Principal Investigator
• Proven research experience with relevant experience in successful funding application (advantageous)

• Conducting, coordinating and supervising independent and/or collaborative research projects on drug discovery and modification, drug delivery system development, and disease mechanisms
• Actively pursuing external research grants
• Supervising research students and staff
• Administrative tasks related to research
• Performing other departmental tasks as assigned

Appointment(s) will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years (with contract‑end gratuity for a 2-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewal subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
