What does a Chief Research Analyst, Behavioral Sciences do?
* Plans, initiates and develops studies of department operations.
* Consults and advises on both existing and proposed research projects and incorporates methods of evaluation vital for measures of efficiency.
* Establishes and maintains liaison with County departments, other government agencies and community agencies regarding research activities.
* Conceives, develops and promotes special research projects; negotiates with funding agencies for financial support.
* Evaluates information secured through studies and consultations and recommends new and revised programs.
* Develops and recommends standards for evaluating programs and for preparing research reports.
* Participates in policy discussions based on research studies and data compiled.
Selection Requirements
A Ph.D. or other doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in a field of the behavioral or social sciences* - AND - Two years' full-time post doctorate research experience including responsibility for the design, evaluation and implementation of research projects in a behavioral or social science field.
Physical Class II - Light:
This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Additional points will be given to qualified applicants beyond meeting the requirements and who possess the following desirable qualifications:
* Experience using specialized statistical research software to analyze trend and cross-sectional data, conduct predictive analytics, develop qualitative and quantitative methods and research data management techniques.
* Experience in research publications, peer review publications in public administration, behavioral sciences, or social sciences, and presenting research data to various target audiences.
* Experience in designing and conducting complex research and evaluation projects, focusing on community driven, juvenile and adult justice, and/or closely related or similar programs.
* Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with non-technical partners who have varying levels of experience with data and evidence-based practices, developing research agendas, and assuring access to external data systems for data collection and evaluation.
* Experience supervising and managing the work of a team of researchers, prioritizing and assigning multiple projects, and working proactively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Examination Content
This examination will consist of an Evaluation of Training, Experience and Education worth 100%.
This assessment type will evaluate the training, experience, education, and desirable qualifications you list on a questionnaire and assign a score on a standardized scoring system.
Applicants will need to meet the requirements and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be placed on the list.
