The Environmental Chemistry Laboratory (ECL), Pasadena provides DTSC with expertise in method development, quality assurance, data evaluation and analysis of environmental samples. The ECL also studies new chemicals of concern and provides DTSC management with analytical information for decision making.
Responsibilities- Use standard methodologies (e.g., EPA, ASTM, CDC, etc.) and laboratory technical systems procedures (TSPs), quality system procedures (QSPs), and forms with instructions to analyze environmental samples and other media submitted by DTSC program staff using advanced instrumentation such as gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry and other analytical instrumentation and equipment.
- Comply with method performance specifications to achieve accuracy and precision in analysis.
- Analyze, summarize, and evaluate sample data and prepare reports for DTSC and other collaborative government agencies or research laboratories, in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and departmental regulations and statutes.
- Prepare scientific reports on projects, research studies and surveys to be used by the department for decision making.
- Prepare, revise, and review the technical systems procedures (TSPs), quality system procedures (QSPs), forms with instructions in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and departmental regulations and statutes.
- 1 year of research experience working independently on projects preferred.
- 1 year of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory preferred.
- Experience with standard analytical testing methods preferred.
- Experience working under ISO/IEC 17025 or other Quality Management Systems.
