Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesJoin a cutting-edge research laboratory at UCLA focused on understanding the molecular basis of epithelial cancer formation, progression, and treatment, with the ultimate goal of informing the design and testing of strategies for cancer treatment towards clinical trials.
As a Staff Research Associate I, you will work under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and your responsibilities include collaborating with UCLA staff at various clinics to consent study participants, collect tissue and tumor specimens, and ensure accurate documentation in accordance with approved research protocols. In the laboratory, you will process human specimens for downstream genomic analysis to help elucidate the molecular, cellular, and genetic events involved in gynecologic disease progression.
You’ll also assist with general lab operations and provide administrative and grant‑related support as needed.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to gain hands‑on research experience in a collaborative academic environment focused on advancing cancer research.
Job Qualifications- Skill in routine molecular and cellular biology techniques with and without laboratory equipment.
- Writing skills and ability sufficient to fully and accurately document all lab work in a notebook according to lab standards.
- Ability to analyze research data and prepare clear, concise and accurate technical reports.
- Interpersonal skill to interact and collaborate effectively with scientist coworkers, graduate students and faculty.
- Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats.
- Reading skills sufficient to understand specific protocol relevant journal articles, and equipment.
- Ability to perform library searches.
- Ability to work standing for long stretches of time and up to 90% of the day.
- Ability to work with research animals and perform basic dissections and euthanasia.
- Experience and ability with cell and tissue culture methods.
