Assistant Manager
- Granada Hills role at The Salvation Army Southern California. The Salvation Army (TSA) Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a no-fee program to assist men and women in their journey to complete our rehabilitation program. The organization relies on the diligence and devotion of its employees.
Become part of the dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army! This role supports the Encino Thrift Store, which aids the Adult Rehabilitation Program, and focuses on promoting a positive shopping/donor experience, customer service, problem-solving and teamwork.
Pay rate: 19.37 per hour. Responsibilities- Taking an active role and partnering with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store.
- Managing all day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Providing coaching, training, and development to the Store Employees.
- Ensuring customer/donor needs are met by maintaining good relations; resolving complaints; and providing quick and efficient service.
- Communicating personnel issues with Management in the absence of the Store Manager. May issue disciplinary warnings, conference reports, employee evaluations and goals as needed in coordination with HR and District Sales Manager.
- Maintaining store adherence to ARC Merchandising Standards and ensuring adequate inventory levels.
- BRP (Back Room Processing) – in the absence of the Store Manager, ensure Material Handlers meet daily processing goals.
- Handling cash responsibly at the start of each day and safeguarding cash in registers and safes per ARC policy.
- Assisting the Store Manager in establishing and maintaining safety measures in line with ARC policy and governmental regulations.
- Implementing appropriate loss prevention measures.
- Other duties as assigned by Management, Retail Directors and Command Administration.
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of retail management/supervisory experience.
- Ability to accurately handle POS/cash register operations and cash transactions.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s license and be able to show proof of insurance.
- Must pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers, and donors.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects including carts, fixtures and merchandise.
- Ability to move product up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
- Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employees must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
