MajorDuties
- Sells investment management, advisory, and asset servicing services to the institutional market, focusing on foundations, endowments, and not‑profit organizations with investable assets of $10–$250 million.
- Utilizes business network and internal contacts to identify prospective clients.
- Actively calls in‑market to raise brand awareness, obtain leads, and qualify prospective prospects.
- Responds to RFPs utilizing Central Sales Support; maintains responsibility for completion and delivery to the prospect.
- Coordinates and conducts sales presentations including participation by appropriate internal professionals.
- Maintains in‑depth knowledge of issues affecting the target market to position oneself as a technical expert and resource.
- Participates in industry‑related conferences and programs that may include speaking engagements.
- Identifies opportunities to cross‑sell other services and products to the target market.
- Works closely with local management to leverage the network and ensure client retention.
- Assumes responsibility for complex and sensitive client and account activities as assigned by manager.
- Researches prospects’ financial picture and possible needs to determine best service solutions.
- Develops rapport with prospects and arranges meetings to continue the sales process.
- Presents bank product materials to prospective client or designated liaison (e.g., attorney, CPA).
- Thorough understanding of the investment, custody, and consulting products used by foundations, institutions, endowments, and nonprofit organizations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
- Sound understanding of market segment considerations for professional money manager and custodian selection.
- Knowledge of philanthropic and planned giving strategies is helpful.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations acquired through formal education and work experience.
- Analytical and sales skills required to relate individual customer asset situations to specific products.
- Interactive skills required to comprehend prospect needs and respond with appropriate solutions.
- 10+ years minimum experience in an institutional sales or related role.
- In‑depth knowledge of the target market and the assigned territory.
- Credentialed with CIMA, Series 7, and 63.
$158,010 – 276,460 USD. Salary range is a good‑faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401(k) and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
