Role Overview
Whatnot is the largest live shopping platform in North America and Europe, redefining e-commerce by blending community, shopping, and entertainment. As a remote co‑located team with hubs in the US, UK, Germany, Ireland, and Poland, we build the future of online marketplaces together.
Sales Development Representative – you’ll grow our seller pipeline and ensure we meet the needs of buyers on Whatnot by finding, qualifying, and onboarding the next generation of sellers.
Team members in this role are required to be within 50 miles of our Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York City hubs.
Responsibilities- Deeply understand our end-to-end sales process and collaborate with the team to bring high‑potential sellers to Whatnot.
- Prospect, identify, and qualify top sellers that are a good fit for Whatnot.
- Identify seller needs and close gaps with a creative outreach strategy – including email copy, warm/cold calls, social media outreach, and in‑person events.
- Develop relationships with sellers and work with other internal teams to drive business growth.
- Grow into Sales Manager roles or other opportunities within the business by working on a fast‑paced growth team.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Passion for Whatnot’s mission – you live and breathe the needs of our communities and work relentlessly to improve their experiences.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and being a solution‑oriented self‑starter.
- Fast learner; able to pick up and deeply understand all parts of our sales process and the various categories on the platform.
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written – and can hold an engaging conversation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to determine whether a seller is a good fit for Whatnot.
- Resiliency in the sales process, able to handle and work through rejection or objections.
- Excitement about our cultural principles and the high‑growth, high‑potential environment where change is a constant.
Base pay range: $80,000.00 / yr – $90,000.00 / yr.
