Position Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and results‑driven Catering Sales Manager to lead our catering and event sales efforts. This position will be responsible for cultivating relationships with clients, planning and coordinating events, and ensuring a seamless, memorable experience from start to finish. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail‑oriented, and able to meet and exceed sales targets while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain or exceed budgeted booking goals and revenue for all special event areas.
  • Sell to a wide variety of market segments and thrive in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
  • Foster long‑term client relationships to consistently generate repeat business.
  • Actively engage in industry‑related organizations, trade shows, and sales blitzes.
  • Conduct site inspections and client presentations to showcase The Odyssey’s unique offerings.
  • Participate in community and civic activities to enhance brand awareness and create booking opportunities.
  • Use creativity to design innovative event setups, menus, and functions for groups.
  • Collaborate closely with the banquet department to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Provide detailed banquet event orders to set the operations team up for success.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in catering or event sales, preferably in a high‑volume, upscale restaurant or venue.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing sales and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of venue features, market trends, and competing venues.
  • Experience working with audio‑visual equipment and using it as a revenue center.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, CRM platforms, and sales software (e.g., Delphi, Salesforce).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time constraints and pressure.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of event planning and hospitality sales.
  • Experience working in an upscale venue with high‑end clients.
