LA28 does not provide relocation assistance. The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a privately funded, internationally recognized event that aims to celebrate the city’s legacy and advance the Olympic and Paralympic movements. This role is key to ensuring the safety and security of all residential venues, including the Athletes’ Village, Media Village, Olympic Family Hotel, and other accommodation sites.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Safety and Security Team and key LA28 functional areas (Event Management, Transportation, Logistics, Venue Partners, Public Safety Agencies) to develop comprehensive venue-based security plans covering physical, electronic, and operational security for all assigned venues.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners—law enforcement, transportation authorities, emergency services, and private contractors—to create unified, integrated security plans and serve as the main point of contact for the Safety & Security Department.
- Contribute to risk and venue assessments, identify vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, and oversee implementation of approved security plans, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local regulations and international best practices.
- Represent the Safety and Security Department during the Games, oversee the delivery of approved Security Operations Plans, and ensure adherence to all LA28 policies and procedures at Olympic and Paralympic venues. Produce regular status reports, incident reports, and project status updates.
- Serve as the liaison between LA28 functional areas, public safety agencies, and the Safety & Security Department, fostering collaboration, teamwork, and information sharing. Manage relationships with external partners including law enforcement agencies and regulatory entities.
- Chair planning meetings or working groups as assigned, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and deliverables. Draft policy and procedure documents and share meeting notes and agendas.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in a fast-paced venue safety/security position.
- Experience in cross‑functional security planning and collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Event security experience, specifically at international, multi‑sport events, is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with federal, state, or local government agencies is preferred.
- Experience in multi‑venue event security planning or large‑scale project management is preferred.
- Work both independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Maintain high discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrate commitment to co‑creation and collaborative decision‑making.
- Exhibit excellent organizational and time‑management skills, juggling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for sports, community engagement, or involvement in large‑scale events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Security, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Project Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Certifications or specialized training in Security, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and/or Project Management (preferred).
- Position based in Los Angeles with in‑person attendance required.
- Open‑floorplan work environment; must work efficiently in an open cubicle setting.
- Occasional long shifts, non‑traditional hours, travel, and additional work during the 2028 Games.
- Occasional support for other Venue Security Planning Teams during the planning phase.
Annual base salary range: $126,000 – $180,000. Compensation will be determined based on individual qualifications, experience, and applicable law.
