Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position may be converted to a career position. In this role, you will protect and guard all assets, staff, patients, and visitors at the UCLA Health Redondo Beach Clinic. Security Officers perform regular patrols, document routine activities and incidents, and may serve in a lead capacity. You will enforce policies, state laws, and follow all guidelines, including regulatory requirements. You will also ensure the building is properly secured after hours.
JobQualifications
- Possess and maintain current certifications:
Guard Card, Chemical Agent, driver’s license, and BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross). - Excellent communication skills, able to express ideas clearly and concisely.
- Willing to complete ongoing training classes as required (training provided).
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with healthcare staff, management, law enforcement, and the community.
- Ability to resolve issues independently within set policies and procedures.
- Resourceful in problem-solving using available resources.
- Proficient in operating security and office equipment.
- Diplomatic in dealing with the public and maintaining a professional appearance.
- Effective in relaying information verbally and in writing.
- Understanding of public relations and the impact of actions on the organization.
- Capable of assessing emergency situations and executing appropriate responses based on policies.
- Knowledge of security operational policies and guidelines.
- Familiarity with local geography to expedite calls and serve as an information resource.
- Knowledge of penal codes and radio communication language.
- Physically capable of handling intervention incidents, including restraints and dealing with violent individuals.
- Ability to perform sustained foot patrols, standing, lifting, and restraining as necessary.
- Good visual and hearing acuity to detect and report unusual circumstances.
- Knowledge of security practices, protocols, and techniques.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, have a compliant driving record, and enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program if applicable.
