Job OverviewThe Field Service Technician in Ingersoll Rand's Compression Systems and Services Division serves customers by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all makes of rotary screw, reciprocating, Centac, and ECC air compressors, along with associated compressed‑air system components. Precision measuring tools are used for diagnostic troubleshooting, and the technician must be familiar with all operation and parts manuals.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressed‑air equipment.
- Interact with customers to address existing and unanticipated equipment concerns.
- Collaborate with the Service Coordinator on ordering and gathering parts and supplies necessary for installations and repairs.
- Assist and train apprentices and other Field Service Technicians.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co‑workers.
- Provide technical assistance on equipment pre‑commissioning and start‑ups, installations, and repairs of compressed‑air systems; perform hands‑on work to ensure equipment operates to customer’s requirements with limited guidance from the Master Technician.
- Increase customer awareness of how Ingersoll Rand products, services, and solutions—such as Preventative Maintenance, Diagnostics, Audits, and Leak Detection—can benefit their operations.
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting industrial/commercial mechanical systems.
- Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months, free of major traffic violations (e.g., DUI in the past 5 years, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving or multiple small infractions in the past 3 years).
- Availability for on‑call work after the first 90 days of regular schedule; on‑call weeks can be as frequent as every 4 weeks, as determined by the hiring manager.
- Physically capable of lifting, moving, stooping, and kneeling; must be able to perform regular manual tasks in line with company safety policy.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a mechanic’s set of tools; specialty tools will be provided.
- Read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
- Advanced network systems installations (IMMC/ASC, X Series Automation).
- Basic vibration troubleshooting.
- Basic air quality assessment (compressor/dryer – air treatment).
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer usage; proficiency with handheld computers (e.g., smartphone, iPad) and network basics.
- Maintain proper business travel practices in a cost‑efficient manner.
- Industrial air compressor maintenance & knowledge.
- EPA certification.
- Veterans/Active‑Duty Military encouraged to apply.
- Daily travel within a 3‑hour radius of service area.
- A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
Starting pay ranges from $25.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full‑time, hourly position.
