Aboutthe Position
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation for JCOD STOP prospective and current participants from Los Angeles County jails, California state prisons, assessment locations, and Community Based Providers (CBPs) to approved destinations. The driver must maintain a safety‑first, customer‑service orientated attitude while welcoming participants and ensuring they reach destinations on time.
What You Will Do- Provide accessible transportation to STOP participants receiving services in the STOP network of Community Based Providers to STOP locations upon release from LA County Jail institutions.
- Assist in coordinating driving schedules with STOP supervisors and faculty.
- Keep all vehicles clean and presentable.
- Maintain accurate records of all participant transportation.
- Input and maintain transportation authorizations in the designated data management system as needed.
- Perform data entry and other administrative tasks as directed by the Data Coordinator.
- In rare cases, provide overnight accommodation when transporting participants from remote locations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Valid California driver’s license and eligibility for Amity vehicle insurance.
- Knowledge of California law and rules of the road as stated in the California Driver Handbook.
- At least two (2) years of experience working with criminal justice involved, substance use disorder (SUD) involved, and/or mental health involved populations.
- Data entry and computer skills.
- Understanding of the causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse/mental health challenges.
- Ability to demonstrate proper attitudes and techniques toward STOP program participants.
- Ability to work cooperatively with STOP Area Transportation teams.
- Ability to work constructively with diverse people and parties with divergent perspectives.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
