** DUTIES
* *** SUMMARY

This includes completion of a career profile, developing employment focused goals and resume building.  Provides care coordination services including screening, intake, coaching, skill-building, and referral to community agencies for participants
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Engages client in the completion of a vocational assessment for the purpose of identifying skills, education, previous employment history, strengths, and barriers. Assists client in developing an employment and/or educational plan while also collaborating with the mental health team. Develops new business contacts consistent with the consumers’ career goals. A minimum of 24 contacts must be made within one month per the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.

Develops job leads for job seekers. Per the IPS model, the employment specialist is in the field 65% of their total time, job developing and/or supporting the client. Communicates with Gain Services Worker to inform about clients status pertaining to the employment program.  (This duty is specific to the Cal Works program) On an ongoing basis, the employment specialist must update the clients employment status documentation and complete a follow along plan Coaches and trains job seekers in job search, resume writing, interviewing skills.

Maintains and submits weekly and monthly client/data rosters required per the Individualized Placement Support model. Reports are submitted on a monthly basis to DMH and also play a significant role in annual fidelity reviews. Collaborates with agency staff and community partners to optimize employment and educational results. Accompanies clients to job interviews and provides job coaching at their place of employment Frequently consults with the clinical team to ensure that all mental health concerns are discussed and addressed.

Supports the client through transitions and assists with decision making and goal setting every 3 months.

Supports clients through the intake process of accessing Work Source and/or Department of Rehabilitation services.  Continues to work closely with the Work Source and DOR. Employment specialist carries a caseload of 20+ which may include all three phases of employment within the IPS model. Advocates on behalf of the client with other agencies, government programs and similar to help them receive needed services.

Participates in initial intake interviews to gather information and complete required initial paperwork. Sets up and maintains related files and documentation ensuring compliance with policies.

** QUALIFICATIONS
* *** EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
*** Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related field from a four-year university required.
** OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
*** Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
* Required to travel extensively ( 50% of the time).
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Spanish/ English bilingual preferred.
* Ability to handle confidential information.
