About the Team and RoleAs a Senior Android Engineer on the Everand team, you’ll shape how people discover, organize, and enjoy books. You’ll own core consumption areas:
Home, Discover, Saved, and the Audio Player.
- Design and build high‑quality Android experiences.
- Collaborate with product, design, QE, and engineers to deliver performant, intuitive, visually polished features.
- Strengthen app architecture and performance: smooth playback, fast load times, reliable offline.
- Contribute to technical direction, evolving Everand’s Android foundations and best practices.
- Partner with engineers to improve code quality, test coverage, and release reliability.
- Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and design discussions.
- Champion a user‑first mindset.
- Experience in Android development with a strong track record of shipping high‑quality consumer apps at scale.
- Clean, maintainable Kotlin code; deep experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flows, and modern architecture patterns.
- Strong usability, accessibility, and performance focus.
- Experience in media or streaming apps and delivering seamless playback and offline experiences.
- Cross‑functional collaboration: communicate early and often with product, design, and QA.
- Ownership from concept to release; long‑term thinking over short‑term fixes.
- Mentoring, knowledge‑sharing, and helping the team grow.
- Deep empathy for users and translating that into features.
- Improving app reliability, load performance, or crash metrics.
- Dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger) and Compose Navigation.
- Auth0 or similar authentication frameworks.
- Cross‑platform collaboration with iOS or React Native.
Base pay is determined within a range based on location. For San Francisco, the range is $146,000–$227,500. Outside California, $120,000–$216,500. In Canada, $152,500 CAD–$202,000 CAD. Equity and benefits are included.
