Title: Software Engineer

Reporting To: Software Engineer Lead

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Onsite M‑F)

Overview: Flip is built on the belief that the best way to grow is to have a reference list as long as our customer list. Our small, energetic team of 50 engineers delivers low‑latency, high‑availability voice experiences to millions of customers every month.

What You’ll Do: At Flip you will:

• Create user experiences, design and implement new features, and oversee end‑to‑end pipelines for the Flip assistant.
• Deeply engage with data, interact with customers, and help shape product direction.
• Work on intricate Python systems that interface with external APIs, develop optimized LLM interfaces, manage complex dialogue flows, and ensure high‑availability voice experiences.

Who You Are, As An Engineer:

• Deeply understand a complex Python codebase and quickly grasp its components.
• Write clean, pythonic, well‑tested, maintainable code, adopting established style.
• Perform thorough yet swift PR code reviews for R&D and your own code.
• Own your work, foster trust with colleagues, and multitask effectively.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot production issues across services and integrations, and push the product forward.
• Care deeply about the customer.

Who You Are, As A Person:

• BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3‑5+ years of strong Python programming, experience with asyncio, decorators, advanced class usage, data classes, inheritance, and frameworks like FastAPI or Pipecat.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, authentication methods (OAuth2, JWT, Bearer Tokens), and third‑party integrations.
• Working knowledge of data analytics and metrics pipelines; experience with Omni, Tableau, Looker, Grafana, etc.
• Demonstrated dedication to write, iterate, deploy, and monitor work you are proud of.
• Effective communicator with non‑technical teammates and clients.
• Eager, supportive teammate.

Bonuses:

• Experienced LLM Prompt Engineer with fine‑tuned or deployed LLMs.
• Experience with Pipecat, or TTS and STT pipelines.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and/or Ansible.
• Entrepreneurial drive and startup mindset.
• Onsite in NYC/LA; partner closely with R&D, Product, and Customer Success.

Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000 USD (eligible for equity per company policy, subject to board approval).
