This opportunity is for an experienced full stack developer to contribute to the creation of a dynamic language learning platform. The project is well underway with content already developed, and now requires a technical expert to bring the platform to life. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing and developing language learning solutions, with a strong focus on both front-end and back-end development.

The role involves integrating advanced features such as speech recognition, content management, course and lesson structuring, assessment and feedback systems, and gamification elements. The position is open to independent contractors who can work partially hybrid in Los Angeles, aligning with evening and Saturday morning availability. This project offers the potential for ongoing collaboration based on performance and fit.

• Architect and develop scalable web applications for language learning
• Implement speech recognition (ASR) and interactive content management systems
• Design intuitive course and lesson layouts for optimal user engagement
• Develop assessment and feedback modules to track learner progress
• Integrate gamification features to enhance motivation and retention
• Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of the platform
• Collaborate directly with the project owner, providing regular updates and technical guidance
• Maintain clear documentation and share relevant work samples
• Align work schedule with Los Angeles-based hybrid requirements (evenings and Saturday mornings)

• Minimum 5 years of experience in full stack development, specifically for language learning platforms
• Expertise in both front-end (e.g., React, Vue.js) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, Ruby) technologies
• Demonstrated experience with speech recognition (ASR) integration
• Strong background in content management, course/lesson design, and gamification
• Proven ability to develop assessment and feedback systems
• Excellent web design skills with a focus on usability and accessibility
• Experience building scalable, high-performance web applications
• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken)
• Must be an independent contractor (no agencies or firms)
• Availability to work hybrid in Los Angeles, with a schedule matching weekday evenings and Saturday mornings
• Ability to provide samples of previous language learning platform projects
