The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Earn squad - the team that builds how creators actually make money on Linktree. Subscriptions, tips, digital products, checkout, payouts: if a creator earns a dollar through their Linktree, it moved through the systems this team owns. You’ll work across the full stack, designing and shipping the services, APIs and product surfaces behind those flows.
Monetization is unforgiving work in the best way - a bug here isn’t a visual regression, it’s someone’s rent. You’ll spend real time on correctness under partial failure, on payment provider contracts, on the ledger that has to reconcile, and on the checkout experience that has to feel effortless anyway. It’s hands‑on IC work close to revenue, with your product and design partners sitting right next to you.
With 70+ million people using Linktree and 48,000 new accounts created every day, the surfaces you build are how an enormous and varied group of creators turn an audience into an income. Most of all, you’ll help Linktree achieve our mission: to empower anyone to curate and grow their digital universe.
- Design, build and ship full-stack features across the Earn surface, from the payment and entitlement services through to the checkout and subscription experiences creators and their fans actually see.
- Own the correctness of money movement end-to-end: idempotent charge handling, entitlement state, reconciliation against our payment providers, and payouts that add up.
- Integrate and maintain our payment and commerce partners, including auth, webhooks, versioning and graceful degradation when a provider has a bad day.
- Instrument what you ship and use the data to decide what to fix, cut or double down on - conversion, churn and failed-payment recovery.
- Partner with product, design, finance and partnerships to turn a revenue opportunity into a shipped, measured feature, and surface the technical constraints before commitments are made.
- Bring AI into how you build, and where it earns its place, into the product itself.
- Raise the standard around you through clear writing, thorough reviews and mentoring - and leave the codebase better than you found it.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production full-stack features.
- Solid full-stack skills across our core stack (Type Script, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL or MySQL, GraphQL, AWS), with the ability to move end-to-end on a feature.
- Hands‑on experience with payments, billing, subscriptions or another domain where correctness is non‑negotiable - you have dealt with idempotency, retries, reconciliation and partial failure in production.
- Experience integrating third‑party APIs and SDKs, and the operational reality that comes with them: auth, rate limits, webhook ordering and provider outages.
- Comfortable working in a large, established codebase you did not write, with the judgment to know what is safe to change.
- Fluency with AI‑assisted development (e.g. Claude, Cursor, Codex), including how to prompt, iterate, validate and refine what these tools produce.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: you can take a loosely defined revenue opportunity and turn it into a shipped, measured feature.
- A high standard for craft. You notice the failed‑payment state, the confusing error copy and the rounding edge case without being asked.
- A clear communicator who works well with product, design, finance and partnerships, and who writes decisions down.
- Based in Los Angeles or San Francisco, working hybrid from one of our offices.
