Football Performance Assistant Director, Sport Science

• Salary: $68,800.00 - $ / Annually

Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director, Football Sports Medicine and the Head Football Strength & Conditioning Coach, the Football Performance Assistant Director, Sport Science will lead planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the performance sport science program for football student‑athletes. The role drives research initiatives to identify critical qualities and metrics related to enhancing athlete performance, health, safety, and talent identification.

The assistant director oversees delivery of sport science services across all integrated support team (IST) disciplines, influencing athlete performance planning, resources, and organizational processes through data collection, coordination, and analysis. The position also provides integrated nutrition support in collaboration with the Director of Football Nutrition and the IST, and requires frequent interaction with athletes, coaches, and strength staff.

Actual salary offers consider factors including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. • Minimum of 1-year experience as a Sport Science in the collegiate setting. (Required)
• 5 years relevant work experience w/ high‑level sport or tactical athlete populations. (Preferred)
• College or NFL experience strongly desired. (Preferred)
• Must have thorough understanding of NCAA Division I Football and integration of sport science into daily operations of the Football Performance Model. (Required)
• Must analyze situations, identify problems, implement solutions impartially and fairly. (Required)
• Prioritize assignments to complete work timely amid changing deadlines and workload. (Required)
• Obtain body composition measurements and interpret results for athletes, athletic trainers, and coaches. (Required)
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, professionals, and administrators. (Required)
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills to communicate at various levels including NCAA officials and Big 10 administrators, staff, and coaches. (Required)
• Demonstrated writing skills to complete concise, effective, and grammatically correct reports, policy statements, procedures, and correspondence. (Required)
• Knowledge and ability to comply with Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. (Required)

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience. (Required)
• Master’s degree in exercise science, sports science, or related field. (Preferred)
• Valid CA Class C noncommercial License in accordance with California DMV. (Required)

• Ability to work odd hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. (Required)
