Job SummaryIncumbent is responsible for coordinating day-to-day Crew Management dispatch functions of a team of crewdispatchers during their assigned shift. Must answer crew employee questions, provide information regardingassignments and hours and call crew employees to ensure staffing requirements are fulfilled for On Train Personnel. Must have good multi-tasking skills and knowledge of Amtrak’s train service at various geographicalterritories. Maintain position rosters in addition to completing weekly work, zone bulletins/awards, updating withcrew employees, field management personnel, crew base support personnel and labor representatives throughout the tour of duty.
Show initiative to handle on-train staffing issues and other duties as assigned.
This position will be assigned to work either in On Board Services (OBS) crew management or Train and Engine(T&E) crew management.
Essential Functions- Must answer crew employees’ questions, provide information regarding assignments and hours and call crew employees to ensure staffing requirements are fulfilled for T&E positions.
- Must have good time management skills and a good understanding of Amtrak’s train service and geographical territory.
- Maintain position rosters in addition to completing weekly work zone bulletins/awards, updating manpower records, coordinating training and work schedules and creating staffing reports.
- Deal directly with crew employees, field management personnel, crew base support personnel and labor representatives throughout the tour of duty.

- Able to make sound decisions under pressure, self‑motivated, positive attitude and commitment towards excellence.
- Knowledge of labor agreements, hours of service law, seniority rosters, territories where T&E employees are employed.
- Required to use multiple screens for arrow and CICS, databases, and Microsoft Office to perform job duties. Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills, pleasant people-oriented personality, excellent phone etiquette required; must be articulate.
- Will provide direction to T & E Personnel in all interactions.
- On-board/T&E service, crew management, or experience in a crew base support position.
- Practical work experience with Amtrak labor agreements, safety and environmental regulations and applicable federal codes and statutes governing railroad operations.
- Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
- Pleasant people-oriented personality and excellent phone etiquette required.
- must be articulate.
The bi‑weekly rate is $3,887.35 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
