Assistant Professor of Psychology – Valencia Campus
The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Assistant Professor of Psychology. This is a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track position with start date August 10, 2026. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico‑Valencia is a two‑year branch campus serving a student body of approximately 2,500 each semester. The faculty emphasize teaching excellence and offer vocational, technical, and academic transfer courses.
Salary:
Base salary $57,000. Summer teaching is optional with additional compensation. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, tuition remission, etc.).
- Provide 24 credit hours of classroom instruction across the academic year (fall and spring semesters).
- Maintain attendance, scholastic, and student records and uphold office hours as per UNM Valencia Campus policy.
- Participate in college committees, curriculum development initiatives, outcomes assessment, and departmental projects.
- Engage in professional development related to teaching and classroom technology training.
- Produce service and scholarship activities as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Psychology.
- At least one year of experience teaching Psychology courses at the post‑secondary level, including Introduction to Psychology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching a wide range of psychology courses.
- At least one year of experience teaching at a twoyear or community college, including Introduction to Psychology.
- Evidence of commitment to service and professional development.
- Experience teaching in online, hybrid, or blended modalities.
- Knowledge and implementation of current teaching methodologies in active learning.
- Commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and supporting the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
