As an Electro-Mechanical Build Technician
, you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering and delivery teams by setting up automated manufacturing lines and assembling, testing, and validating electrical and mechanical components integral to our fusion energy systems.
- Lead the assembly, installation, and maintenance of our fusion systems.
- Receive deliveries and control inventory of equipment and manufacturing supplies.
- Support the engineering team during design, development, and testing phases of the fusion system.
- Help troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers) to ensure systems integration and effectiveness.
- Play a key role in setting up the manufacturing site by installing equipment, facilities, and storage.
- Draft and finalize SOPs, safety procedures, and related documentation.
- Maintain a 5S manufacturing environment, ensuring tools, equipment, and work spaces are clean, safe, and organized.
- Comply with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including ISO, state, and federal regulations and company‑specific standards.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a technician in a hands‑on setting.
- Familiarity with CAD software and technical drawings.
- Strong problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.
- Experience driving a forklift and using hand power tools.
- Excellent communication skills and experience with in‑person and remote communication with other technicians and engineers.
- Experience with automation equipment and processes is a plus.
- Experience setting up a new manufacturing facility, ideally in a startup environment is a plus.
- Experience owning and mastering machine shop tools (lathe, mill, CNC, drill press, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience building out a team by interviewing, hiring, and training other technicians is a plus.
The position requires the ability to squat, reach, climb, stand for prolonged periods, lift objects up to 50 lb, and perform regular hands‑on work with tools and equipment in the laboratory.
Bonus Points- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands‑on tasks such as machining, welding, construction, or auto mechanics.
$45,000—$65,000 USD
