Cashier at Smith's Food & Drug Centers – based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This role is part of the Kroger family of companies, working with over 140 stores across Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Handle various tenders (cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rewards, coupons) and follow checkout procedures.
• Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages, restricting sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs), and other loss‑prevention policies.
• Report pricing discrepancies, postage, gift card, and coupon issues to the Scan Coordinator.
• Maintain awareness of sales promotions, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations, local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents, or issues to store management.
• Inspect equipment; report required repairs.
• Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all customers, answering product questions.
• Manage conflict, work cooperatively in a high‑paced environment, and uphold honesty and integrity in all interactions.
• Provide support to minors, customers with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Prior customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).

• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
