Correctional Officer Cadet (NMCD/CNMCF #17010+) at New Mexico Corrections Department

Base pay: $18.15/hr – $27.23/hr (within Pay Band C3). The actual compensation will be based on skill and experience. For full compensation details, refer to the department's pay range information.

This position is a trainee role that requires completion of the New Mexico Corrections Department Training Academy and field training within 12 months of hire.

• Attend, participate in, and successfully complete the NMCD Training Academy.
• Complete field training and assignments as required during the 12‑month training period.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all training modules and maintain required certifications.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age.
• Good moral character and no felony convictions in any court.

• Safety‑sensitive position; subject to pre‑employment and random testing in accordance with federal and state law, including alcohol and drug testing.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Must pass all aspects of pre‑employment screening, including background investigation, agility testing, psychological evaluation, and any physical or aptitude examination required.

• Work in an adult prison environment with daily contact and supervision of inmates.
• Willingness to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
