Salary and Employment DetailsNew Mexico Aging & Long‑Term Services Department provides a pay range of $50,248.00 to $75,372.00 per year ($24.15 to $36.23 per hour). Actual pay is based on your skills and experience. The position falls under Pay Band C6.
The position is full‑time, in the Seniority Level of Associate, and classified as an Administrative role within Government Relations Services.
Responsibilities- Complete investigations and develop service plans.
- Interview alleged victims, alleged perpetrators, family members, providers, and other collaterals as required.
- Gather information to complete investigations; plan, organize, and coordinate activities in accordance with Adult Protective Services (APS) regulations and procedures.
- Make appropriate recommendations for intervention and placement.
- Determine progress, present and future needs of clients; evaluate eligibility for APS services using program guidelines and refer to external programs and services when appropriate.
- Assess and identify client needs, safety issues, and risk factors. Assess living conditions to determine safety.
- Document case contacts in the APS Case Management System on a timely basis, in accordance with APS procedural requirements.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate must be professional, courteous, civil, respectful, and provide open, honest, and thorough communication.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Family Studies/Services and two (2) years of experience in any combination of community work, health or social service matter, case management, behavioral health, or health care. Any combination of education and direct experience totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation for daily client‑related travel; personal vehicle use must comply with State of New Mexico statutes and regulations.
- Pre‑employment background investigation is required; extensive statewide travel is required.
- Must pass State and Federal criminal background check.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or receive certification within 90 days of employment.
Work is performed in an office setting, client home, or institutions. Risk of injury from hostile clients is possible. Travel in the applicant’s personal vehicle may be required. This position does require a rotation of on‑call responsibilities.
