Design Intern (Textile Design) - Content Automation ProjectDuration: 6 Month Internship (Fixed Term)
Location: Loughborough (this is a studio based role)
Reporting to: Lead Designer
Sanderson Design Group is seeking two Design Interns to join our Design Studio on a fixed-term basis to support an exciting Content Automation Project.
This project is focused on creating a comprehensive library of production-ready digital artwork across our portfolio of fabric and wallpaper brands. Working alongside the Lead Designer, interns will prepare existing live designs to a consistent digital standard, ensuring each artwork is accurately repeated, coloured and ready for future digital applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience within an established textile design studio while developing specialist technical skills in digital textile artwork.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare production-ready digital repeat tiles for live fabric and wallpaper SKUs across all Sanderson Design Group brands.
- Ensure all repeat artwork is technically accurate and seamless.
- Colour artwork to match approved live SKUs with a high degree of colour accuracy.
- Create and amend colourways using AVA CAD software.
- Produce and refine colour separations where required.
- Ensure all artwork follows studio standards, naming conventions and file management processes.
- Carry out quality control checks to ensure artwork is accurate before sign-off.
- Work efficiently to meet project milestones and agreed productivity targets.
- Maintain excellent organisation across digital files and project documentation.
- Communicate progress regularly with the Lead Designer and flag any technical issues promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the wider design team when required.
- Working knowledge of AVA CAD software.
- Strong understanding of colouring within AVA.
- Good understanding of repeat design principles.
- Excellent colour awareness and colour matching skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work methodically and accurately.
- Good time management with the ability to work to deadlines.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently once trained.
- Experience creating and editing colour separations.
- Degree (or currently studying) in Textile Design, Surface Pattern Design or a related discipline.
- Experience working with fabric or wallpaper designs.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
- Understanding of textile manufacturing processes.

As part of this internship, you will support the Design Studio on a dedicated digital artwork project across our portfolio of fabric and wallpaper brands.
Working closely with the design team, you will assist in the preparation and management of digital artwork, ensuring a high standard of quality, accuracy and consistency throughout.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for colour and textile design, and an interest in developing their technical skills within a leading interiors brand.
