Special Education Teacher (Secondary SEMH/SEND)
Location: Loughborough
Pay: £190‑£240 per day (DOE)
Duration: Full‑time | Long‑term | Temp‑to‑Perm Opportunities
Start: Immediate, or September starts available
Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and resilient Special Education Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting supporting pupils aged 11‑16 with a range of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and Special Educational Needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes through a nurturing, structured and therapeutic approach.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and SEND
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive academically and emotionally
- Support the development of pupils' confidence, independence, emotional regulation and social skills
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and senior leaders
- Monitor progress, adapt learning strategies and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent, trauma‑informed practice
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD or associated needs
- Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building skills
- A patient, adaptable and resilient approach to teaching
- Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one
- Competitive daily rate (£190‑£240 DOE) with weekly pay
