What You'll Be Doing
Based in a modern, purpose‑built practical workshop, you will guide and mentor students with diverse learning needs (including autism and communication differences).
Deliver engaging, basic‑to‑intermediate practical sessions focusing on woodwork, carpentry, and general multi‑skills.
Differentiate your teaching style to match individual processing and sensory needs, ensuring every student can participate safely.
Help students develop basic tool competency, independence, and teamwork habits that prepare them for life beyond education.
Maintain a highly safe, supportive, and structured workshop environment.
What You'll BringWe are looking for an individual with genuine trade authority and an empathetic, patient approach to mentoring others.
Qualifications:
A Level 3 NVQ or Advanced Craft qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, or a relevant multi‑skills/building trade.
Experience:
Strong practical background in woodwork or property maintenance, with a natural knack for handcrafts.
Traits:
Incredible patience, strong communication skills, and a genuine desire to work with neurodiverse young people.
Bonus Points:
An existing teaching qualification (Level 5/PGCE), assessor awards, or prior experience working with learners on the Autism spectrum is highly desirable—but a willingness to learn with college support is absolutely welcome!
