Overview
Infinitive Resources are seeking a Test & Electrical Engineer to join our team at our Loughborough depot, supporting rolling stock overhaul, maintenance and modification activities. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on electrical testing, fault finding and rectification across a range of rolling stock platforms. The successful candidate will work as part of the production team to ensure all electrical work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with required technical and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Testing & Fault Finding- Carry out electrical testing, diagnostics and fault finding on rolling stock systems.
- Undertake rectification and repair of electrical faults in line with technical specifications and work instructions.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation to support fault diagnosis.
- Support commissioning and functional testing activities as required.
- Complete electrical installation, rewiring and modification work on various locomotive and rolling stock platforms.
- Assist with planned maintenance and overhaul activities.
- Identify and report any arising additional work (AAW) discovered during inspection or testing.
- Accurately complete job cards, test sheets and associated documentation.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, engineering standards and safety requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure calibrated equipment is within date where applicable.
- Work in line with depot safety rules and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying practical solutions to recurring technical issues.
- Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an electrical engineering discipline.
- Proven hands‑on experience in electrical testing and fault finding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience working within rail, rolling stock or a heavy engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of health & safety requirements in an engineering setting.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience working on locomotive platforms.
- 25kV switching experience.
- Depot driver or shunter competence.
- Experience with commissioning and functional testing of rail vehicles.
