Postdoctoral position in 2D materials spintronics (Department of Physics, Loughborough University, UK)

We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher to join an EPSRC-funded project on spintronics, two-dimensional (2D) materials, and quantum transport, led by Dr Fasil Dejene at Loughborough University . The project,  Symmetry Demanded Spin Current Generation in Quantum Materials  , explores how reduced crystal symmetry can be harnessed to generate spin currents with unconventional spin polarisation.

The PDRA will work on the design, fabrication, and characterisation of novel spintronic devices based on 2D van der Waals materials. The role will involve developing methodologies for device fabrication, materials characterisation, and measurements of quantum transport and spin phenomena at both room and cryogenic temperatures.

Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field, with expertise in experimental condensed matter physics, magnetism, spintronics, or 2D van der Waals heterostructures.

• Experience in device fabrication and electrical/magnetic characterisation (e.g., nanolithography, magneto-transport, AFM, SEM)
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Micromagnetic or multiphysics simulations
• A track record of high-quality publications in relevant fields
