Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience working within a finance team to develop their accounting career while contributing to the work of a national charity dedicated to improving young people’s lives through sport and play. The Youth Sport Trust works to improve children’s lives through sport, physical education and physical activity, helping every young person reach their potential.
We are now looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team and help provide accurate, timely and insightful financial information across Youth Sport Trust and Youth Sport Trust Enterprises.
Support a broad range of finance activities including payment runs, expenses, credit card reconciliations, sales invoicing, banking, cash book management and debtor control. Play an important role in month‑end processes, supporting preparation of overheads, journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust controls. Support year‑end audit preparation, help maintain strong financial controls and contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and systems across the organisation.
QualificationsMust be AAT qualified or a part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Experience working within established financial procedures and controls, alongside financial processing, reconciliations and month‑end activities is required. Strong Excel skills, experience of financial systems and financial controls, and effective communication skills with a range of colleagues and stakeholders are essential. Highly organised, accurate, customer‑focused, proactive, and committed to delivering high‑quality work.
