Waste Management Supervisor

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Waste Management Supervisor to oversee Waste Transfer Station (WTS) and Waste Haulage operations. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for ensuring waste management services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant legislation and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

Supervision of the day-to-day operation of the Waste Transfer Station and Waste Haulage service.
Managing a team of drivers and site employees.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
Monitoring driver and vehicle compliance, including tachograph records and vehicle inspections.
Delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to staff.
Conducting regular site inspections and maintain accurate records relating to health and safety, quality, security, and environmental standards.
Managing attendance, recruitment, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary matters where required.
Operating the weighbridge system when required
Liaising with fleet teams to ensure vehicles are serviced, inspected, and maintained in line with legal requirements.
Coordinating contractors and maintenance activities to support smooth site operations.
Ensuring you work in accordance with council policies.
Providing operational cover for sites and colleagues when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous supervisory experience (ideally within transport, logistics, waste management, recycling, or a similar operational environment).
Experience managing drivers, fleet operations, or site-based teams.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Good computer skills

Experience with health & safety requirements on an active site
Good communication and contractor management skills.
A flexible and proactive approach to work.
