Working for an Aerospace First Tier Supplier

Based between Long Eaton & Castle Donington – Site Based

5D are working alongside a leading precision engineering first-tier supplier based in the heart of the midlands. They supply to some of the most well-known companies including Rolls Royce and Siemens.

They are experts in sheet metal, fabrication, machining, assembly, and special processes, including welding, non-conventional machining, and heat treatments and have developed a consultative relationship with their clients due to their expertise and commitment to delivering a quality product and service.

Supplying into the Aerospace, nuclear, power generation, and precision engineering industry sectors and due to winning significant new projects with new and existing clients we are looking to grow the team.

What the Role will Involve:

* Effective management of a small team of sheet metal workers and welders.

* Responsible for prioritizing and delegating work to members of the team in line with the master production schedule.

* Responsible for the control of hours in the department to ensure the production targets are met as efficiently as possible.

* Working with different teams, including the quality team for root cause analysis of non-conforming products, or the engineering team for new product introduction into the department.

* Man management – this includes holiday planning, maintaining discipline, and a positive team culture.

* Being the lead on business improvement processes, this could be lean manufacturing to reduce production time, and / or improve quality.

* Responsible for ensuring all required production and quality records have been updated.

What we are Looking for in the Candidate:

* Experience in leading a team in a production environment, preferably within a precision engineering industry.

* Ideally a hands on background, or experience of working in a sheet metal / machining environment.

* Knowledge of quality systems.
