Packing Operative - NIGHT SHIFT

Shift Pattern Availability: 4/7. Nights: 7pm - 7am

Salary: £13.15 per hour, rising to £13.50 once you become a Skilled Operative. PLUS £1 per hour Nights Premium, between 10pm - 4am

Our Operatives are the bread and butter of Geary's. You are responsible for ensuring the bakery products are of the best possible quality.

• Manually fold, re‑work and label product
• Pack product into baskets and manually stack
• Operate machinery such as bagging units on lines
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practice to keep the finishing area tidy and safe
• Quality control – follow SOPs to ensure product meets our quality standards
• Meet all Health and Safety responsibilities
• Support Production, Loading and Hygiene departments when necessary

You will be moving around a busy bakery, carrying out manual and non‑manual tasks, which may be physically demanding.

• Ability to handle manual work, including lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods
• Comfortable working in high‑temperature environments
• Strong attendance record and commitment to shift patterns
• Effective collaboration in a fast‑paced environment
• Precise adherence to instructions, especially regarding food safety and quality control
• Understanding of cleanliness and hygiene in a food production setting (basic training can be provided)
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks and able to adjust to changing production needs
• Effective communication in English to understand safety protocols and instructions
