Join us at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a QC Scientist I to contribute to global health through quality control testing that ensures the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products. You will perform chemical physical and microbiological analyses in support of manufacturing operations while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Working with advanced analytical instruments youll conduct testing of raw materials in-process samples finished products and stability samples.

REQUIREMENTS

• Preferred:
  Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related scientific field
• Experience in a GLP regulated laboratory environment performing analytical testing is desirable but not essential
• Exposure to classical wet chemistry techniques for the analysis separation and quantification of chemical substances including auto titrators Karl Fischer titration colorimetric assays pH and buffer analysis nitrogen determination and dissolution testing
• Some working knowledge of spectroscopic techniques including FTIR UV-Visible spectrophotometry and fluorescence spectroscopy
• Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and quality management systems (training provided)
• Work safely adhering to company EHS policies prescribed safety instructions and wearing prescribed personal protective equipment
• Review COSHH documents and carry out risk assessments as required (training provided)
• Calibrate analytical instrumentation before commencing work as the need arises by methods and quality systems (training provided)
• Maintain instruments in good order report defects and repairs as advised to Process Leader and QC Manager
• Analyse materials with accuracy and precision in line with approved analytical test methods while meeting department target times
• Order and manage stock levels of laboratory reagents in accordance with the chemical database system
• Raise purchase orders for instrument service requirements and coordinate equipment for external calibration
• Basic understanding of GLP practices and quality control requirements
• Excellent documentation practices and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Mandatory requirement to wear PPE including lab coat safety glasses and gloves
• May require flexible scheduling including occasional weekend work
• Knowledge of data integrity requirements
• Maintain 6S housekeeping standards keeping work areas clean tidy and safe
