Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Turning Point's Leicestershire & Rutland Substance Use Service as a Rough Sleepers Advanced Recovery Practitioner. The role supports those who sleep rough or are at risk of doing so, guiding them into drug and alcohol treatment. You will hold a defined caseload of service users with multiple needs and may develop a specialist area within the team.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Supervise no more than two Rough Sleepers Recovery Workers, providing one-to-one support and helping them develop their practice.
  • Support a team of Recovery Workers when working outreach to ensure they work safely and follow the lone working policy.
  • Complete a generic audit of a Recovery Worker case each month and discuss outcomes in supervision sessions.
  • Manage casework for the most complex Rough Sleeping/Homeless cases, with caseload size varying by complexity and other duties.
  • Prioritise harm reduction in case work, including carrying NSP provisions during outreach and recording on NEO and CIM.
  • Provide oversight of service users within the Rough Sleepers Team while Recovery Workers are on leave, ensuring continuous care.
  • Carry out outreach work to maximise engagement with service users, including early morning, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with partnering agencies and act as the first point of contact for any difficulties.
  • Participate in weekly MDTs, support other Recovery Workers and provide guidance on treatment plans; chair MDTs in the absence of the Team Leader and chair multi‑agency meetings when required.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence (e.g., annual leave or conflicting commitments).
  • Engage in training and development opportunities to develop and maintain leadership skills.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional report writing and case note skills.
  • Demonstrable experience working in a substance use treatment and recovery setting.
  • In‑depth specialist knowledge of one or more complexities alongside substance use (e.g., mental health, long‑term conditions, criminality, homelessness, domestic violence).
  • Understanding of risk and risk management as it applies to substance use and complexity.
  • Significant experience working in health and social care settings.
  • Desirable qualifications: RMN, Social Work, psychology or other relevant qualification.
Benefits
  • Salary: £29,244 per year with annual progression up to £33,880, dependent on experience.
  • 25 days paid holiday per year plus bank holidays, increasing to 27 days with each year of service, plus the option to purchase additional holidays.
  • Structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways to support long‑term professional development.
