We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated Social Worker to play a pivotal role within the interdisciplinary team at the NRC. This role is integral to supporting patients and their families throughout their rehabilitation journey, coordinating patient pathways, supporting timely discharge planning, and facilitating access to community resources and services.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand‑new purpose‑built rehabilitation environment, shape the development of an innovative rehabilitation service, and contribute to the delivery of rehabilitation excellence. Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be a key advocate for patients and families, helping to navigate challenges and enabling individuals to maximise their independence and quality of life.
The post holder will work closely with patients, carers, and professional colleagues to address complex social, emotional, and practical needs, ensuring person‑centred care remains at the heart of the rehabilitation process.

Person Specification Training and Qualifications- Recognised qualification in Social Work e.g.: oBA, BSc oMA in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, Certificate of Qualification in Social Work, Social Work England registration
- Evidence of post graduate Clinical Professional Development
- Experience of 1:1 social casework to enable discharge
- Ability to assess, and manage complex cases in the multi-disciplinary inpatient setting
- Good understanding of the benefit/social welfare system including housing issues
- Experience of working with patients with a life‑threatening condition;
Spinal Cord Injury;
Brain Injury;
Polytrauma - Experience of working with adults of working age e.g. returning to vocational and family roles
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Professional caring attitude, approachable and courteous manner
- Ability to convey sensitive information
- Ability to work collaboratively with partner organisations
- Ability to manage conflict
- Information technology skills, including use of internet, emails and word processing.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation applicable to Adult Social Care, including safeguarding Adults and Children

- Understanding of personal development from adolescent to adulthood and techniques to overcome resistance to change.
