Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

We are working with a specialist PMLD school in Loughton that is looking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.

This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The students have a combination of severe learning disabilities alongside complex physical, medical, sensory, and communication needs. Many pupils are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication and may use PECS, Makaton, sensory cues, or specialist communication devices to express their wants and needs.

The role involves providing consistent support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning activities that are tailored to their individual abilities and developmental goals. You may also support students with personal care, mobility, feeding, sensory regulation, and medical needs, working closely with teachers, therapists, nurses, and other specialist staff.

• Have experience supporting children or adults with SEND, complex needs, or care backgrounds
• Be patient, caring, and empathetic
• Feel comfortable supporting pupils with personal care requirements
• Be confident working with students who have physical disabilities and additional medical needs
• Have a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential
• Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
