Location: Chigwell

Reed Finance are pleased to be supporting a successful education partner seeking an interim Head of Finance for the next 9-12 months. The successful candidate will need to be readily available to start in the coming weeks, and be able to commit to the assignment.

The Head of Finance will manage the day to day finance function, whilst partnering with senior management from a commercial, operational and strategic perspective.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead budget negotiations, maintain budgetary control, and ensure compliance across the organisation.
  • Take charge of the planning, development, design, organisation, and monitoring of finance, technology, and premises functions.
  • Manage Trust finance staff and establish commercial links with businesses to generate educational benefits for students.
  • Conduct research and make strategic development recommendations for the Trust.
  • Attend Senior Leadership and Trust meetings as required, influencing strategic decision-making within the organisation's Leadership Team.
  • Ensure optimal resource use through effective planning and financial management.
  • Prepare a balanced budget annually and develop a long-term financial strategy in consultation with the CEO.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget, addressing variances and communicating them to the CEO.
  • Maintain and manage financial systems in accordance with policies, ensuring accurate financial records are kept.
  • Act as the key contact for internal and external auditors and manage financial controls within the organisation.
Required Skills &

Qualifications:
  • High standards of professionalism with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Proven experience in financial management and administration within an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Experience in preparing budgets and financial forecasting.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and statutory guidelines relevant to education.
  • Proficiency in managing financial systems and producing detailed reports.
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including senior leadership and external agencies.
