Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable business with a strong pipeline of secured work, delivering projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare and public sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are procured efficiently, cost-effectively and in line with programme requirements.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial and Project Delivery teams, you will be responsible for the procurement of materials and plant and across multiple projects. You will be expected to build strong supplier relationships, negotiate competitive rates and ensure materials are delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure construction materials, plant and equipment for multiple live projects.
• Source competitive quotations and negotiate the best commercial terms.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Liaise with site teams to ensure procurement schedules align with project programmes.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve any supply chain issues promptly.
• Identify opportunities to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
• Keep up to date with market trends, material pricing and product availability.
• Work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams to support successful project delivery.

About You

To be considered, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Buyer with a main contractor
• A strong understanding of construction materials and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
