Job Summary

By joining our BV Construction Group, you will develop and enhance your skills in an on‑site, hands‑on environment. Our management is committed to the latest technology, above‑class support and sustainability to bring our clients the best in safety, quality and final product. Functions include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, startup, decommissioning and field engineering. This is a field assignment and requires travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the successful execution, construction and startup of the project.
  • Provide leadership to project staff and all organizations on site.
  • Direct daily/weekly planning and represent Black & Veatch in all interactions with the Owner and Contract.
  • Implement Black & Veatch standards and procedures, develop project‑specific procedures and allocate resources.
  • Manage overall construction and startup cost to meet established budgets.
  • Review, analyze and report monthly on project construction budget, schedule and quality performance.
  • Direct implementation of the Construction Processes and Procedures Manual (CPPM) and ensure deviations are submitted when necessary.
  • Implement project controls processes using Installation Work Packaging (IWP) through Package Manager software.
  • Negotiate and implement appropriate labor agreements.
  • Establish high‑level trust and credibility with clients, owners, partners, craft labor, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Lead the site management team and ensure safety, quality and commissioning objectives are met.
  • Oversee change order management for subcontracts and coordinate with the project manager to execute change orders.
  • Resolve all back charges, collect conformed construction records and support contract closeout activities.
  • Establish site staffing needs and coordinate staffing for the site office.
  • Mentor site staff, promote team building and maintain morale.
  • Champion implementation of LEAN concepts, continuous improvement efforts and support staff engagement.
  • Act as project manager with responsibilities for a multi‑discipline project team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience on similar projects in conventional generation construction management with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8+ years experience with 3 years at superintendent level or above on large conventional generation projects, or in construction management on smaller projects without a Bachelor’s degree.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
  • See and hear naturally or with correction.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties.
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Perform repetitive movements.
  • Work above 5 feet in height, climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

Typical construction site environment: cramped work spaces, awkward positions, very hot (above 90 °F) or very cold (below 32 °F) temperatures, exposure to dust, wind, snow, rain and bright or low lighting. Work around hazardous equipment. Typical office environment. Position is safety‑sensitive.
