Brooklyn Public Library – Junior Designer
Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative entry‑level junior designer with 1-2 years of professional experience to join the Marketing and Communications (MAC) department. The ideal candidate must have a great eye for design, be equally comfortable in print or digital media, be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, and possess outstanding communication and organizational skills. The designer will work on multiple projects simultaneously, manage time effectively, and work within existing brand guidelines to create printed collateral (posters, bookmarks, brochures) and digital assets for our website and social media channels.
The role reports to the Creative Director of Art and Design.
- Collaborate with senior designers and MAC team members to produce work that reflects BPL’s brand across various media and formats.
- Remain current on industry trends and technology.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, critiques, and brainstorming sessions.
- Maintain a professional approach to feedback and deadlines.
- Assist in production‑related needs as requested by the Senior Production Director.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design.
- 1–2 years of professional graphic design experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe CS – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
- Working knowledge of MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (a plus).
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills that support the rest of the team.
Full‑time, exempt position. Salary range $65,000 - $70,000.
