Boswell & Co. is a biography and research firm co-founded by Ishaan Pomichter and world-renowned author Walter Isaacson, author of the critically acclaimed biographies of Elon Musk and Steve Jobs. Most remarkable people never get a proper book. We exist to change that. We partner with entrepreneurs, executives, public figures, and families to produce deeply reported biographies, memoirs, and corporate histories.
Our work combines investigative reporting, archival research, and extensive interviews to preserve the lives and stories of exceptional people. We are a small, collaborative team that values intellectual curiosity, rigorous reporting, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and close attention to detail.
We are seeking a part-time Reporting Intern based in New Orleans. The internship will focus specifically on preparing for and conducting interviews for biography, memoir, and corporate history projects.
A significant portion of the role will also involve digitizing and organizing archival materials, including scanning documents, uploading files, and accurately tagging and categorizing materials so they can be easily accessed by the project team.
Because every interview subject is different, the ideal candidate will be professional, sociable, adaptable, and comfortable engaging with people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. Depending on project needs, the intern may also be called upon to travel to unique locations to conduct interviews with clients and other sources.
This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in journalism, oral history, documentary work, archives, biography, or narrative nonfiction.
The position requires approximately 10 hours per week, with scheduling depending partly on interview availability and project needs.

- Ask thoughtful follow-up questions, adapt to different personalities, and produce detailed interview notes and summaries.
- Scan, upload, label, tag, and organize documents, photographs, correspondence, and other archival materials.
- Maintain accurate and accessible interview records, transcripts, recordings, and digital files.
- Coordinate interview scheduling, travel logistics, and follow-up communication when needed.
- Communicate regularly with the project team and respond promptly to messages, scheduling changes, and time-sensitive requests.
- Travel occasionally for interviews, archival collection, or other project needs.
- Handle personal and confidential information with professionalism, care, and discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sociable, dynamic, and comfortable engaging with a wide range of people.
- Excellent listening skills, curiosity, and the ability to ask substantive follow-up questions.
- Professional judgment and confidence when interacting with prominent or high-profile individuals.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and time-management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when scanning, tagging, uploading, and organizing materials.
- A hardworking, dependable, responsive, and proactive approach to assignments.
- The ability to work independently while communicating clearly with writers, researchers, and other team members.
- Adaptability, discretion, and a willingness to travel occasionally.
- Comfort using shared drives, cloud-based platforms, scanners, and digital file-management systems.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Journalism, History, English, Political Science, Communications, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Humanities, Business, and other interview- or research-intensive disciplines.
- Experience with a student newspaper, podcast, oral-history project, archive, documentary, literary magazine, academic journal, or other reporting organization is a plus, but not required.
