Role Description

The Freelance Camera Operator role is a contract, on-site position based in New Orleans, LA. This role involves operating professional cameras during shoots, setting up and adjusting equipment, and collaborating with directors and production staff to capture the desired shots. The Camera Operator is responsible for framing, focus, and camera movement, as well as assisting with basic lighting and troubleshooting technical issues on set.

Day-to-day work may include location scouting input, equipment checks, and adherence to production schedules and safety protocols.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Camera Operation and Camera handling skills.
  • Candidates should possess practical Lighting skills for a variety of shooting environments.
  • Candidates should possess solid Video Production experience, including on-set workflows.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with TV Production processes and standards.
  • Ability to work on location in New Orleans, LA, with a flexible schedule based on production needs.
  • Experience with different camera systems (e.g., DSLR, cinema cameras) and related accessories.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to take direction and collaborate with a production team.
  • Relevant experience in film, television, or digital media; formal training or education in film or media production is a plus.
