LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Department of Oral Surgery, is seeking three motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2

Minimum Qualifications

No experience or training required.

Job Duties And Other Information Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:

Assist oral surgeons and dental students with chair-side treatment of patients.
Maintain and stock cabinet
Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium/WinOMS Computer knowledge)
Give follow-up home instructions as directed by the surgeon, resident, or student
Implement and maintain infection control in the work area.
Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA.
Know dental and surgical terminology.
Know the correct nomenclature of all dental and surgical instruments.
Knowledgeable of computers.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday; work hours will be determined by department.

Work Location:

1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119 Compensation:

$15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
$14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title

Additional Compensation

$1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
$2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
$1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
